HELPING FAMILIES IN CRISIS. When the first Board of Directors met in 1974, they didn’t realize that they were laying the foundation for a unique rural charitable organization. What began as a single program for “friendly visitation” has grown to include the provision of emergency housing and utilities, clothing, household goods, services for victims of crime, shelter from domestic violence, transitional housing, professional counseling and response to a variety of other emergency needs.

CoxHealth_LogoOur Mission – Skaggs Foundation’s mission is to develop relationships and financial resources to support the healthcare programs, projects and services of Skaggs Regional Medical Center.

A History of Giving – In the late 1940s, M.B. Skaggs challenged area residents to donate as much money as they could to build a community hospital that would be open to everyone who had a need. While M.B. and Estella Skaggs donated a significant amount of the funds needed to construct the facility, several other community members donated funds to see Skaggs Community Hospital open its doors on January 8, 1950.
