Support for the community by the community

School Readiness Fair

Help us prepare children for school!

Your change can help the 10th Annual Taney County School Readiness Fair provide the necessary school supplies for area children in need. The School Readiness Fair, which is sponsored by OACAC, Christian Action Ministries, and Salvation Army, will be held this year on August 6 at Skyline Baptist Church from 8:00 to 4:00.

The Taney County School Readiness Fair provides school supplies, clothing, and shoes to children whose families are experiencing financial difficulties. More than 50% of the school children in Taney County are within the poverty guidelines for this assistance. The need is great. In conjunction with the School Readiness Fair, Christian Action Ministries is sponsoring the "Clothe-A-Child" Program.

$45 will sponsor one child for the School Readiness Fair. Your support will have a significant impact on a child’s life. Having the required supplies and proper clothing for the coming school year gives a child the sense of equality and self-esteem essential to ensure academic success.

Milk bottles labeled “Got Change?” are being placed in many venues throughout the community.  Even your spare change can add up to a life-changing difference for a child. Your business or family may choose to sponsor one or more children.

The School Readiness Fair also offers educational and entertainment opportunities for children
and their parents.  Nutritional and dental information, fire safety, the DARE car, Imagination Library, special needs services, children’s immunizations, and DNA kits will be available.  Entertainment will be provided by clowns, face painters, American Kids, and Action Ministry’s Mime Group.

Donations for this annual community fair may be sent to OACAC, Christian Action Ministries,
or Salvation Army. 100% of all contributions will be used to purchase school supplies and clothing. No administrative or advertising expenses are taken from these funds. Please make all checks payable to “School Readiness Fair.”

Call 239-1882 or 334-1157 if your business would like to host a “Got Change?” milk bottle to help support area children or if you have questions regarding this program.
